In an underground rap scene that is adamant on innovation of sound, blending of aesthetic, and originality, I feel as if Uno never got the credit he deserved for succeeding in each of these respects. A lot of the criticisms against Uno are in his similarities with the countless other Carti clones on the scene. However, in terms of production quality, blending of sound, and innovation within the genre, he is closer to Carti than the faceless Carti clones are to him. Since he first emerged on the scene in 2020-21, he has continually refined his sound to take risks and contribute something new to the underground scene. My one complaint is as he has evolved as an artist, he has abandoned certain parts of his sound, more present in his early career, to solidify his re-invention as an artist. This is a re-invention, that I would argue. is for the better but neglects the variety he presents as an artist. Uno is a tremendously fun artist to listen to their entire discography. It is always fascinating to hear years of progress and evolution on the same listen, and find yourself gravitating to aspects of both.
